A 10-house cul-de-sac in Eagle became the set this week for an NBC reality show called "The Baby Borrowers."

The producers of the show didn't want to release too many details Friday — they don't allow media on the set when they're shooting. They'll be taping in the Boise area for a couple more weeks.

David Gardner, who handles publicity for NBC, was in Eagle and provided some insight into the show.

It's a knock-off of a popular British program in which five teenage couples — ages 16 to 19 — get a potent dose of the realities of parenthood.

"BBC is going to be doing a sequel soon," Gardner said.

This is television reality, so the couples are learning about parenthood at a much accelerated rate.

The teen couples are saddled with the responsibility of caring for a baby — a real one — for three days, including feeding, changing diapers and soothing crying jags.

After that, they must care for a toddler for three days.

One of the couples has to care for two siblings while another has their hands full with three. All of the couples will be given family pets to add to the mix of their responsibilities.

Before the six-episode series ends, viewers will get to see the teens care for sassy pre-teens and, as a poignant conclusion, a set of grandparents.

"This series promises to be a rollercoaster of emotions, laughs and empathy for people of all ages," said Craig Plestis, executive vice president of alternative programming for NBC Entertainment, in a release about the TV show.

Stay tuned to find out when the show will air. The date hasn't been announced yet.
